Notcoin Partners with Lost Dogs NFT to launch new web3 game

In a new venture, viral clicker game Notcoin has partnered with the Lost Dogs NFT collection and The Open Network (TON)-based NFT marketplace Getgems to launch a story-driven Web3 game.

Notcoin, which rapidly gained over 30 million players within two months, is pivoting towards building a more sustainable ecosystem and engaging players in a deeper, more community-centered way.

The upcoming game will allow players to use Lost Dogs NFTs as characters, with the ability to evolve and grow by completing missions and making critical decisions throughout the game.

Notcoin: Moving Beyond Tap-to-Earn for Long-Term Sustainability

Notcoin acknowledged in a statement shared with Cointelegraph that its former tap-to-earn model wasn’t designed for long-term success. Although it initially attracted a vast player base, the decision was made to end the mining phase on April 1 at the peak of its popularity.

Now, the team is focused on transitioning into a community-driven experience, as highlighted by Mad Tail, the Chief Barking Officer of Lost Dogs.

Mad Tail emphasized the significance of storytelling within the game, noting:

“Life is built on narratives, and we wanted to reflect that in our game. It’s about creating a meaningful connection, something more than just quick rewards.”

In this shift, Notcoin players will still have the chance to earn the platform’s native token (NOT), as well as an additional new in-game token as they immerse themselves in the story.

NFTs: Enhancing Gaming with Ownership

Despite a recent downturn in NFT sales volume, many in the industry still believe in the power of the technology. For example, Atari recently integrated NFTs as access passes for its onchain arcade, allowing players to compete on a global scale while preserving their scores on the blockchain.

Mad Tail also weighed in on the ongoing conversation around NFTs, pointing out that, regardless of public opinion, NFTs are an existing technology that continues to evolve. According to Mad Tail, NFTs can deepen player engagement by reinforcing a sense of ownership within games, which is why the team opted to integrate them into their upcoming title with Notcoin.

This new project is being treated as an experiment by Notcoin, blending various concepts and reinterpreting them for a unique gameplay experience that could redefine Web3 gaming.

The future of Web3 gaming continues to unfold, and Notcoin’s story-driven approach represents a bold step forward.
